Can you set the Debugger > Diagnostics (or "Advanced" in older versions) 
 > Debug Internals Log File and then do a debug run that locks up and 
send us the output?

It'll also be useful to have the IDE-side log from the same time, which 
is ~/.wingide4/error-log on Ubuntu.

That may show us what is going on.
