Yes, just better p4 support I suppose.  The pre save signal would be useless in this case as the file would have to have been checked out already.  This is definitely a first world problem, but never hurts to ask.

Do you really want improved perforce support so it will run p4 edit on a readonly file?  We are unlikely to support editing of readonly files.
There is a presave signal that is emitted by the scripting api before a file is saved.
