Hi,
I'd like to encourage other users to email support at wingware.com
with opinions on default behavior for the tab key.
Specifically, I'd like to know:
1) What style(s) of indenting you use
2) What default behavior for tab is preferred
3) Any other comments/suggestions in this area
Up until Wing 2.1beta2, tab was always mapped to indent-to-match
(sometimes called "smart indent") by default but this mode can be
confusing to new users so we decided to try simplifying the tab
key in beta2 so it just adds one indent level. (Which BTW does
not work quite right yet in mixed/tab+space indented files)
The perception of indent-to-match seems to vary quite a bit
depending on the style of indenting used. Then using
indent-to-match, it is non-obvious how to add a tab characters,
and that is a problem if you're using tabs or mixed/tab+space
indent instead of spaces.
Please reply w/o cc-ing the list unless there's some value for
your comments to be seen by the whole list.
Thanks!
Stephan Deibel
