*Lead Software Engineer* *Position Background*

We are an internet based business with consumer and enterprise facing
websites and services. Our internal enterprise back-end has been implemented
in Python. We are looking for an experienced software engineer to continue
the development of existing and new back-end products; to take their
performance, reliability, and functionality to the next level; and to
support the high growth rate of our business through capability and insight.


This position reports to the VP of Technology.*

*Job Description*

As in most small companies, exact position responsibilities are a function
of dynamic company requirements and the individual's capabilities. However,
this position will focus on:

i. All aspects of engineering our enterprise back-end systems.

            Including content management, transaction processing, and XML
web services.

ii. Participation in full life cycle development:

            specification, design, coding, testing, implementation,
documentation, & support

iii. Recommending [and developing] support system enhancements, and web
services.

iv. Performance tuning Python and its database interactions.

v. Code review on other projects underway within the organization.

NOTE: This is an upper level hands-on development position, NOT a mangerial
position.

*Eligibility*

The candidate will be working primarily with Python based code at all levels
of development up to  designer/architect level. Candidates therefore must
have 10+ years active software engineering experience with an object
oriented language, and 5+ years direct experience working with  python and
associated technologies [buzzwords include: CherryPy, BeautifulSoup, PAMIE,
PIL, mod_python, PyCrypto, ZSI, jython…] as well as familiarity with
subversion and open source project tools [plone, trac, etc.] Candidates must
have a college degree, and complete familiarity with HTML, XML, and Windows.
Proficiency with MVC (Model-View-Controller) concepts, Grid or distributed
computing, Test-Driven Development, Character set handling, Java, MS
SQL/2000 database development and/or T-SQL a definite plus. The strong
candidate will possess a linux and open source bias, and high level
organizational and communication skills, plus a relentless attention to
detail.
